Context
The Audi plant in Brussels sought to increase the efficiency of its internal logistics processes. The AGV fleet was operating below capacity and container management had inefficiencies impacting operational costs and material flow.
Challenge
- Lack of a systematic process to capture and evaluate improvement ideas from plant personnel
- Several AGVs under-used after a drop in production
- No dashboard for tracking the impact of implemented improvements
What we did
We deployed the OLB methodology at the plant, combining structured proposal capture with agile proofs of concept and a KPI tool for impact tracking.
-
OLB Methodology Deployment
Definition of the process for capturing, evaluating, and prioritizing improvement proposals with plant logistics team participation.
-
Agile Proofs of Concept
Proofs of concept for the two automation initiatives: takt supply with a MOVVO mouse AGV, and automatic coupling of the cart to the AGV.
-
KPI Tool & Reporting
Development of a tracking tool to monitor proposal progress, consolidated savings, and impact on key plant indicators.
Results
With the OLB method, 40% of the annual savings target was consolidated and a further 25% was in proposals being tested. Audi's team adopted the method and works with an app developed by CYP.
